Can my workload or application run on OpenMetal?
If your application runs on Linux-based virtual machines, containers, or Kubernetes, it will run on OpenMetal. Our platform supports any workload that runs on OpenStack, including web applications, databases, big data processing, machine learning, and more.

Are there license costs by VM or other resources?
No. OpenStack and Ceph are open source, which means there are zero licensing costs for VMs, containers, or storage. You pay only for the dedicated hardware and the service level you choose.
What support levels are available?
We offer two levels of support, plus a custom third level:
Level 1 (Included): All hardware management including servers, switches, power systems, cooling, and rack infrastructure. Initial provisioning of Ceph and OpenStack. Support for cloud health issues.
Level 2 (Assisted Management): Named Account Engineer, Engineer-to-Engineer support, joint cloud health monitoring with 24/7 team response, monthly proactive health checks, and upgrade assistance.
In addition, OpenMetal publishes extensive documentation for our clouds and many System Administration teams prefer to have that level of control with their private cloud hosting.
What are the basic features of your private clouds?
OpenMetal's Hosted Private Cloud is built on OpenStack, providing full API access for automation (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) and direct control over hardware resources without licensing fees.
The platform features cutting-edge software-defined networking with thousands of autonomous VPCs with dedicated routers, load balancers, and firewalls, backed by up to 20 Gbps public internet access per server. IP flexibility includes IPv4 by default, optional IPv6, and bring-your-own /24 blocks.
For reliability: DDoS protection (up to 10 Gbps per IP), 24/7 onsite data center personnel, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA compliance certifications. Data is managed via high-availability Ceph storage with scalable block and S3-compatible object storage. Network uptime SLA of 99.96%, with historical performance consistently exceeding 99.99%.
Is there any shared hardware in our hosted cloud?
Your servers are 100% dedicated to you. The crossover between your OpenMetal Cloud and the overall data center comes at the physical switch level for internet traffic and IPMI traffic. For internet traffic, you are assigned a set of VLANs within the physical switches. Those VLANs only terminate on your hardware.
